چکیده

For software vendors, the process to determine the requirements for the next release of a software product is often difficult. In this paper we present a mathematical formalization of release composition with a corresponding optimization tool that aims to support product managers and development project managers during release planning. The tool is based on integer linear programming and assumes that an optimal set of requirements is the set with maximum projected revenue against available resources in a given time period. The input for the optimization is twofold. Input data like the list of candidate requirements, estimated revenue and required team resources per requirement, whether or not a requirement is mandatory, comprise the first type of input. Secondly, several managerial steering mechanisms provide flexibility in the optimization environment: team composition, permitting of team transfers, extension of deadlines, and hiring external resources. Through experiments based on real-life data we make a sound case for the applicability of our proposal. 1 Requirements selection for release planning Companies developing software products face complex challenges when determining requirements for upcoming releases (see e.g. Potts (1995); Regnell and Brinkkemper, (2005)). Often the wish-list of requirements extends the capacity of available resources, requirements may not be unambiguous, they may be difficult to prioritize, etc. As a matter of fact, many aspects influence the definition of an optimal set of requirements for a next release. Modelling and Scheduling Lot Streaming Flexible Flow Lines

Although lot streaming scheduling is an active research field, lot streaming flexible flow lines problems have received far less attention than classical flow shops. This paper deals with scheduling jobs in lot streaming flexible flow line problems. The paper mathematically formulates the problem by a mixed integer linear programming model. This model solves small instances to optimality. Moreo...

Exact Mixed Integer Programming for Integrated Scheduling and Process Planning in Flexible Environment

This paper presented a mixed integer programming for integrated scheduling and process planning. The presented process plan included some orders with precedence relations similar to Multiple Traveling Salesman Problem (MTSP), which was categorized as an NP-hard problem. These types of problems are also called advanced planning because of simultaneously determining the appropriate sequence and m...

Solving Single Machine Sequencing to Minimize Maximum Lateness Problem Using Mixed Integer Programming

Despite existing various integer programming for sequencing problems, there is not enoughinformation about practical values of the models. This paper considers the problem of minimizing maximumlateness with release dates and presents four different mixed integer programming (MIP) models to solve thisproblem. These models have been formulated for the classical single machine problem, namely sequ...

A Stochastic Model for Prioritized Outpatient Scheduling in a Radiology Center

This paper discussed the scheduling problem of outpatients in a radiology center with an emphasis on priority. To more compatibility to real-world conditions, we assume that the elapsed times in different stages to be uncertain that follow from the specific distribution function. The objective is to minimize outpatients’ total spent time in a radiology center. The problem is formulated as a fle...

A goal programming approach for fuzzy flexible linear programming problems

We are concerned with solving Fuzzy Flexible Linear Programming (FFLP) problems. Even though, this model is very practical and is useful for many applications, but there are only a few methods for its situation. In most approaches proposed in the literature, the solution process needs at least, two phases where each phase needs to solve a linear programming problem. Here, we propose a method t...
